The Insight Technology AN/PEQ-2A is a ruggedized military laser that features highly powerful, eye-damaging Class IIIb High Power modes (up to 50mW for the aiming laser and 150mW for the IR illuminator). Because these outputs exceed civilian legal limits, standard issued units are locked out by a removable safety block

- IR Pointer/Illuminator: Capable of up to 150mW output in spot mode (and up to 90mW peak continuous wave).
- Safety Lockout: Features a blue, removable plastic safety block. When installed, it physically prevents the mode dial from rotating into the high-power modes.
- Power Source: Runs on two standard 1.5V AA batteries.
- Divergence: Highly adjustable, providing a 0.3 mRad spot for the laser and a variable >10º flood for the illuminator
